Curriculum Intent

All pupils:

  • Are thoroughly and confidently engaged in all Level 2 lessons
  • Are able to make outstanding progress evident in Engineering Motor vehicle data
  • Have high expectations and believe that by working hard they can succeed
  • Experience a realistic working environment and industrial standards
  • Have the skills, knowledge and who to contact to remain safe
  • Can understand the deeper meanings and command verbs relating to the level 2 Engineering and Motor vehicle
  • Can write and present work accurately and confidently meeting the unit criteria
  • Have additional opportunities to engage with industry and prepare for work whilst investigating job roles in the Engineering sector
  • Have a strong foundation for further academic or vocational study with access to further education and or employment

Key Stage 4

At KS4, in Motor Vehicle, we offer a Level 2 course (GCSE equivalent). Motor Vehicle VRQ’s are challenging and incorporate both practical skills and subject knowledge in great depth. Students would be expected to have a genuine interest continuing their education and training taking their qualification forward into the apprenticeship program. It is important that pupils are able to work on their own initiative on this course, as it requires a great deal of self-motivation and some autonomous learning. Students will need to apply their skills and knowledge in real time in our industry standard motor vehicle workshop.
