Year 6 Transition

Year 6 Transition 2021

A Word From the Headteacher

We are delighted that you have chosen to send your child to be educated with us. We are all very excited to meet your child and get to know them. To help us to do this we have arranged a number of opportunities for your child and yourself to get to know a little more about Holmfirth High School.

Your child’s Primary School has been given details of a Zoom introduction meeting with myself and other colleagues. This is normally something that we would hope to do in school but current circumstances make it very difficult. Your child will also have a transition day with us, where they will meet their Form Tutor, other key staff and lots of new friends. Finally, parents and carers will be invited into school to meet key staff. Clearly, in school visits are dependent on the circumstances at the time but I am hopeful that they can go ahead. If they can’t we will communicate an alternative plan.

As a school, we are unashamedly keen on uniform. I know that for some children and their parents/carers this will be different from what they are used to at primary school. I must urge you to look at our website and the information in the transition booklet so that you are aware of expectations. A particular minefield is shoes. If you are unsure whether what you buy is acceptable please contact your child’s Head of House so that they can confirm that the particular item fits with our policy. Please be aware that if it doesn’t, it will need to be changed and so to save us all from that disappointment, please get in touch and ask us.

We look forward to welcoming your child to Holmfirth High School in September and we hope that the information that we provide over the next few weeks will help their transition to our school to be as smooth as possible.

Yours sincerely

Mr B Stitchman
